Default Help! Heater blower does not put out much air

Hey guys, I have an 01 Dakota SLT. The heater/AC blower does not push out a significant amount of air. I can hear a difference on each of the 4 stages however, the highest setting feels like it is only pushing what low normally would. And low isalmost non existant. I have read on here that if you only have high to check the blower resistor. Since I can hear all 4 stages is there something else it might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I would give replacing the resistor a shot and see if that fixes your problem(might be going bad). Try that first.

I would agree on replacing the resistor pack first. They don't cost much. I have heard it is best to get them from the dealership because Dodge is said to have reworked the new replacement parts with better quality longer lasting resistors which are supposed to help the blower work better. I also heard Dodge sold all their old ones to Napa, but who knows whether it's true?

If you replace it, please post here with your results. I have sort of the same problem with my 2001, but I at least get a little air flow when on low. High speed is stronger, but I think it could do better. A tech at the Dodge dealer told me the blowers on the Dakotas just are not that strong and can not move as much air as we might like.

Thanks,

Jimmy

Ok, I am going to contact the dealership this afternoon and see if I can get a resistor. I will post the results after I get it installed, hopefully that does the trick! Thanks for the replies.

Should only cost ya like 15-16 bucks and takes literally 30 secs to replace, two screws, unclip the connection and then reclip with the new on andyou are done

Had the same issue with mine. There was air coming out at each setting but very very weak. $13 later from the dealer and 10 minutes in the driveway and what a difference.........

Glad to know it helped. I may go get a new resistor pack for my truck too and see if it helps my own fan speed. High isnot exactlystrong but the other 3 speeds are weak. It could be better. Thanks.

Give it a try, I only paid $13 and it is certainly an easy thing to put in. High is now extremely high! The only suggestion I have is the newresistor has two little tabs by the both of the screwholes but my old one did not. I tried leaving them on but then it does not fit right. A quick search online told me that it is necessary to cut those off in some models. After that it was a perfect fit.

Mine actually came with an intruction sheet that told me to cut the tabs off.

And Jimmy, definitely give it a shot for under $20. I too had air ateach setting justvery weak. High was noticeably stronger than the rest but not likeyou would expect. After the change, it is like night and day.....
