I have alot more mods then you, but i have raced the so called 1.8T and its a super small stock turbo, unless he has it upgraded, the turbo is the size of your center cap on your r/t rims.. its nothing to worry about.. off the line that 1.8 is all motor turbo ont kick in till about mid rpm for him.

I would race him and do the same thing you did last time, start in 1st, redline it to get a good rpm launch from 2nd and then turn od off and put into drive to redline 3rd. If you get a good launch im willing to bet your high end v8 power will keep you ahead of him after the launch.

Ide go for it..

When i raced the 1.8t i blew his doors off, then i came to a stop light and he blew past me from a dead stop i caught him and still beat him at the time all i had done was..

1.7rr
gibson headers
mopar 4bbl m-1

and thats it...

Now i have,

"Read Sig"

little diffrence.

I would say race, if it is for fun. The VWs are very respectable. He may have a little after market part called a boost controler. If that is the case, he may beat you. That is the cheapest way to add HP. Ask him if he has a boost gage (after market). If he is monitering the boost, that means he has upped it beyound stock.

i agree and you don't even need the controller my buddy cranked down his waste gate and got 4 pounds of boost on his gauge and said it completely changed the car just make sure he's not bsing about his mods because that could change the race.

i dont think that volkswagen beetles have AWD as an option. yeah i just checked and its not an option. also if he does have a 2002 S than he has a 6 speed manual. (only option) if he can drive it i would worry but if he isn't careful than he will just spin his front tires and get sh*t tons of tourqe steer. go for it, you only live once.

If there's no AWD, the Beetle has no chance.

Just go ahead and race him. Win or lose, I'm sure you would like to know if the technology can replace cubic inches, in this situation.
