yea i highly doubt that....he towed a dual rear wheel "ryder" transport truck out of a ditch that was at about a 45 degree angle in the snow(his truck was in low 4wd) and all 4 wheels were spinnign but was slowly pulling it out....oh and the ryder truck was full of furniture!!

I wouldnt agree with everyone saying you are gonna take him by 1 second. It depends on his rear end...

If he has the 4.0L SOHC with the 4.11 gearing tow package, he's gonna take you without an issue, IMO.

If he had a stick, I would say don't even bother to race him. The 4.0L might not be the most powerful thing you can get into a truck. His truck is light, and if he has the 4.11 package, I would bet on him.

My father has an 03 Ranger with a stick and the V6 4.0L sohc, and the 4.11 gears, and it's a quick sob.

Good Luck.
his ranger has the tow package and his owners manual says its the 4:10 rear end not 4:11(even though it dont make a difference i dont think)

its an auto(like the first post says)...

we did a lil pre race after school leaving the lot and he was trailing big time....but im sure i had a slight head on him though.... the race should be tomarrow or friday....

This is going to be very close. The dakota is heavy as hell. You can't deny that the rangers got plenty of power for its size.

It doesnt sound like you like ford. I have a 3rd gen dakota. I like Dodge and all, but the ranger is a pretty good truck, especially offroad, right out of the box. I wouldnt call it pathetic.
Well, let me put it to you this way. With most everybody that buys a pickup they buy it to haul, and ride on the streets. Probably 10% of them take them off road enough to need offroading capabilities. If you want that, get a Tacoma, not a Ranger. Rangers ride to rough on the road for a DD, but hey if you like them, more power to you. I'm in LOVE with my Quad Cab.
