2000 Dakota 4x4, V6.
Owners manual says I have a 22 gallon tank. I don't have the fortitude to push those limits. My light comes on when I am down about 16 gallons. I just have a hard time believing that there is another 6 gallons in the tank. That is more then 1/4 of a tank. My light may be off, but I wanted other opinions.

 

mine comes on at 1/8th of a tank and I can drive on empty for quite a ways...

 

my DTE says 33 when mine comes on.

 

mine comes on at 1/8th of a tank and i'll fill up at 15 gallons. i have the 22 gallon tank, i remember filling it up 21 gallons a few times. same thing in my chrysler cirrus, the gauge would read empty at half tank... explain that for a 16 gallon fuel tank.. chrysler sending units are garbage.

 

Mine comes on and i can fill it up for 16gal.

I drove it 45miles once on the light, and when i was turning into the gas station the truck almost died (it jumped like it wasnt getting fuel).. i was lucky. Im surprised my fuel pump didn't fry!

i have no idea what it takes to fill it at that point, i never let it get that low,

 

mine comes on at 1/8th, and ive gone about 120 km on the highway like that, and filled it up about 90 litres, and the tank is 92 or 93 litres.

 

yeah mine comes on at 1/8th (indicated) i had it go on right before i filled up (i rarely ever like to let it go that low) and i put in 20 gallons (btw, i have a 24 gallon tank) so when my light goes on i know i still have 4 gallons left which is about 50-60 miles

 

i have a 24 gal tank, and my light comes on in between 1/8 and 1/4...and i can go about 10 miles highway and 4 city.....my tank float is all kinds of fk'd up....it is the third one thats been in my tank btw

oh and from dead empty i put a good 89 buks in....(23.7 gallons average)

 

According to my owners manual. And what I've witnessed myself. It will come on with an 1/8 of a tank left. The manual also said not to let it get that low. Says it's hard on the CAT.
