2004 Quad Cab *pics inside*
I just had the Magnaflow installed on my 2001 Dakota SLT 4 X 4, 4.7L. After talking with my mechanic at Walt's, he said the Flowmaster resonates alot more into the cab of the truck. (More noise). I had the single in - duel out installed and really like it (magnaflow). Sounds great when you have to put your foot into it and at the same time, is nice when you're just cruising down the freeway. And I've noticed a little bit better response and a little more quickness out of the block.
I'm not sure I fully understand this mod about the 180 degree thermostat. Not sure what it actually does for the truck as far as performance and such.
Hope this helps.

I believe its geared more for the Magnum blocks (3.9,5.2,5.9) it just makes the truck run cooler because it opens at 180 instead of 195. I believe this is the reasoning, in the winter your heat wont be as hot. If your looking for something easy I'd say just remove the clutch fan and forget about swapping out thermostats. There is a sticky on common mods maybe you wanna check that out. heres the link http://www.v8performance.com/tipsandtricks.htm
Here's what that site has to say about the thermostat and like I said its more for the Magnum engines
"Which Thermostat temperature should I use:
The Magnum engines respond very well to a 180 degree thermostat. The factory thermostat is a 195 degree which is great for emissions but not so great for performance. Changing it out to a 180 degree model will keep the engine slightly cooler which will help make more power. Please be aware that just swapping the thermostat, without any other modifications, won't gain you a whole lot of extra power. All modifications work together and most will complement each other. Example: 180 T'Stat used with a Cold Air Kit, Headers, and a good Cat-Back system. The 180 degree thermostats will not affect your emissions output either."
PS. I think you'd really like my exhaust on your truck even single in single out. It will flow a hell of a lot better then the Slowmaster and it sounds wicked. Check out youtube for some clips type hooker dakota and look for my truck.

By tires do you mean rubber, or rims? And what should I get?

By tires; I mean rubber. If someone says tires; its rubber. If someone says wheels; it means rims.
I have Uniroyal AWT's ( http://uniroyal.com/overview/laredo-awt/25.html ). You want something with a little bit of lug, and aggressiveness to it to grab when off-road.
