Default Cold air intakes and water??

Hey guys, I was looking at picking up a cheap little CAI on ebay and just putting a K&N filter on it instead of the one it comes with.

My question is, on a Dodge Dakota 3.7L, where does the filter sit? I am really worried about it taking in water, I live in Florida and 6 months out the year its wet..??

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks.

Jim

more then likely it sits on the passenger side behind the headlight above the wheel well, you shouldn't have to worry about water getting in it, unless you have it coming out the bottom near the fog light holes or anything.

the closer an air inlet is to the pavement
the wetter and hotter the air is

notice that most 18 wheel trucks have the air inlet
as high as possible
and there are good engineering reasons to do so

Don’t do it
I’ve got a K&N on my supercharger and it sits right on top behind the passenger headlight like User2006 said … it still pulled water in. I’m sure not having wheel wells had something to do with it but it was also the first time I drove it in the rain. Only 3000 miles on the new motor…well new everything

Jim, not quite sure which one i got (its been about a year) but i do know that it costs only about $50 total (including shipping. like 25 for it and 25 for shipping) and it has a generic cone filter on the end. i have the 4.7 which causes the intake to have a different curve than the 3.7 but so far i like it, its been about 20,000 miles and works like new.
