Default Shift kit ...

iam trying to find out what vendors are available online to buy shift kits and other various parts for my 98 Dak. ( it has the 318 in it ) i just want a little firmer shifts coming from it ...

iam also looking for a grill guard as well... the cheapest i have found was on Ebay for about 279.00 shipped . i really dont think they are going to get much cheaper than that .

One other thing ... i have been contemplating putting in a plastic liner in my bed .. i have only read very little about the "Rhino liner " anyone on here have it and if so what are the pro's and conns of having this done . my local shop estimated 350.00 to have it sprayed ... i dont know if that is good or bad ??? just not really lookling to spend that much .. any alternatives would be greatly appreciated .

After about 3 months of light work use, my brand new bed was all scratched to heck. I had a Rhino Liner sprayed in and never looked back. It's been about another 8 months since then and the liner still looks brand new even after quite a bit of use. In my book, it's $350 well spent.

This is in reply to your shift kit question. I have been on the phone and lookout for a kit for my 99 but i always get the same answer not available. And from what i heard they wont be so i guess we are stuck cause the reprogrammers cant do it either.

go with the spay in!!!!!! you will love it. If they do a good job they put it in plenty thick and the stuff is indestructable. I have rino-liner in mine and i will never have anything else. I love it. well worth the money.

I've heard bad things about "Generic Brand" spray in liners .... But only good about Rhino-liners ... Also, for a comparable price, check out "Bed Rugs" as an alternative. It's about the same price, virtually indistructable, and better (softer) if you use your truck for events such as camping, tail-gating, etc... Cheers!

Check out vortex liners. Better than rhino, uv protectant, and 200 colors, same price if not a little less. got my full size done up over the sides for $400.

transmission center Thats all you need to know. I have sent 6 46REs there and have yet to be dissapointed. 3 of my own and a racing version and 2 friends. I have almost 30k on the clock since I put the first one in and haven't even started to notice any kind of wear and tear signs that you get when you autocross on an automatic. they are a bit pricey but well worth the money.

Transgo...I installed a Transgo kit in a Jeep Wrangler a few years ago. I was pleased with the kit. It came with a VHS video on how to do it as well as an instruction manual. It wasn't that hard to do. I had NEVER been inside an automatic tranny in my life and I did it without dropping the tranny out of the vehicle. It had several stages (= you choose how hard you wanted to shift).

My understanding of shift kits is that they can extend the life of your transmission because of the reduced slippage of the clutches.

The one I installed was behind a v-8 swap-in. I had removed a 6cyl and the tranny was not shifting well with the new power (slipping). The Transgo took care of that. I sold the vehicle but last I heard the tranny was still doing well.

I may look into one for my '01 Dakota.
