Default CAI Installed!

Hey guys, well I installed the intake finally! I have a few topics mixed around in different threads so I just wanted to get the info in one thread.

I have the "mod bug" now!

The thing is only mounted on the throttle body and a ghetto bracket I made up, is that enough to hold it?

Also, should it sound more "meaty" at idle or just at higher RPM's? When I crank it to around 4000 or 5000 RPMs it sounds pretty throaty and mean :-) But at idle it just sounds like the stock air box, is that normal??

I only have one blurry picture of it but here it is:

Oh, and its kind of touching an AC line that gets a little hot, there isnt really a way around it, will it be alright you think??

Thanks a MILLION for everyones help and tips, without it, I would have been lost as this is pretty much my first mod. now its time to try an exhaust!

PS: And to anyone with the 3.7L V6, the way to take the piece off that says "3.7L Magnum" is with a T30 torx driver. I was looking for bolts for like an hour, when I finally spotted the small "star" screws.

Had to drive to lowe's and pick up some torx drivers, so have em on hand if your doing this with a 3.7.

i doubt it works, mine is right next to the fender opening and theoretically still sucks in heat given the fact theres just a wide opening at the bottom of the head shield and the exhaust manifold is right next to it, the gap is a good 5x7 inch opening.

About the sound at idle, should it pretty much sound stock? I dont hear any "rumble" at idle, but when I crank it to like 4500 RPMs it starts to sound pretty good.

Is this normal??

Thanks again

you wont ehar a rumble, if anything you should hear a whistle, like a turbo. mine does it until it warms up. then i cant really hear it, run it without the intake tubing and you will hear intake valve clatter at high rpms which will be that "rumble"

it looks to me, that that intake is missing an 90* elbow where the filter is. It looks to close to the Exhaust manifold and PCM..

I would try to rig up a way to get that filter closer to your passenger side headlight opening.

as for CAIs none of them really work as a COLD AIR they just increase the flow, with less restrictions, letting more air get in faster, and well if you increase the velocity of air it gets cooler. So it might be a tad bit cooler.

user's right, that things not doing anything except hurting your performance. get a piece of pipe and stick that thing out to the grille as far as you can.

yeah dude it looks good. maybe what you can do other than buy another piece of pipe is to, underneath the red "sleeve" is to move the tubes a bit farther apart in order to get you away from the headers. yeah i can hear mine when i start 'er' up and when i get above 3k rpms when i have it on the floor, it sounds really really good. hope you like it and your mileage should go up which won't hurt!
