Ok i can already tell this thread is going to go sour so let me sum it up.

I have

4bbl M-1,
Mopar PPHs,
Mopar Perf. PCM,
Mopar Valve Covers,
1.7HS RRs,
Full 3" Spintech Side Exit Exhaust,
52mm Billet Holley TB,
14" ProComp Open Element,
MSD 6A Ignition w/ Autolite 3923s

dropped 3in all around and lots of "weight reduction"

and i maybe got 2mpg out of all of that, and everything i listed besides the valve covers help with MPG the MSD is the main thing...

your friend getting +3mpg from just that is almost impossible otherwise everyone would be doing it. lol... CAI increases MPG but not even a fraction of a gallon per mile, deleting clutch fan increase water flow and frees up some hp, increase mpg maybe a TAD.. but not alot.

Delete the cat and a "high flow" muffler? Whats that a single chamber muffler? I thought it was called a high flow CAT. Deleting the cat can increase the mpg but not +3mpg.

You also have to take into consideration the time of day he did these tests, tempature, how was he driving? highway city... alot of things can increase your mpg without doing mods. Like driving on the highway on a cold night...

*looks at you like one of those people that buy electric supercharger and claims it gave them 100hp*

You're talking 500 or so, max.

The most expensive part is something that most guys with v8's do anyway, they want that sound. You have a v6, you wouldn't know.
I no longer have a v6, so thanks, but i was talking about the fact you wanted to do a rear end swap, a body kit, and weight reduction. Altough I realized weight reduction does cost anything most of the time. Not to mention like User said you probably don't even get a extra 3 mpg.

He doesn't make since, why would you do weight reduction and then add it back with a body kit... most body kits are for looks not aerodynamics. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about and sounds like a normal ricer.

Rear end swap can increase mpg, but you have to loose some to get some. 4.10s will give you better city mpg, but highway will be worse, 3.55s will give you better highway but city will be worse.

Like someone else said thats why i like my 3.92s there are right in the middle.

User, blow me.

You are a dumbass, I didn't say a body kit as in skirts and ****, i'm talking stuff to make the car more aerodynamic. You are so stupid, to even question my knowledge of wind resistance, friction, and all other factors that equate for lower MPG. A body kit, even the rice ones don't weight near as much as the two back seats in a quad cab, the spare tire, etc etc. So your argument adding weight is totally irrelevant.

I like how you just assume i'm a ricer, because I drive a DODGE DAKOTA v8. That's REAL ricey if you ask me.

Look who doesn't know what they're talking about now.

He did, end of story. You don't believe me? Fine, no skin off of my back. I'm just telling you, he did. Not saying that he didn't change his driving habits a tad, and replace all the wires and such.

When I see some calculations I will MAYBE believe it, but A LOT of people have drop in K&N, and a exhuast and don't see those gains. If he did change his driving habits like you said this is a pointless thread because then we have no idea how well he increased his mpg.

Not to mention Im sure you meant a body kit that makes your truck look like a space shuttle like that article.

Dumb ****, listen. I meant one exactly like that. Yes, space shuttle like, i've seen it. The fan give you 1mpg pretty easily. And the other two are worth a 3/4mpg give or take. So you're looking at 2+ or 3, just depending on how he drives.
