I would assume it's interchangeable. Not sure about the mounts. More than likely bolts up to the tranny and all you would need is a new computer. I hope someone else can chime in. I don't know a 4.7 so I can't look for you.

Man that would be sweet to be able to just drop in a v8, but I would imagine you'd need a better transmission??

Am I wrong here? And if I am, where can I get a decent v8 that I can drop in? :-)

Good question man.

as long as it's the 45rfe behind the 3.7, then you'll be fine for the 4.7.

I'm not sure what parts you need, but I'm sure motor mounts, and tranny mounts would be the first. I'm not sure on the tranny thats in your truck. I have a 2001 Dakota with a 408, and it had a 4.7, I shattered 3 pistons, and snapped 4 rods...lol. You would need the harness, and computer. I'd make sure you buy a complete 4.7 from oil pan, to intake, harness, and computer, and tranny, if its different, everything else should be easy, going to carbed is harder.

he cant carb the engine since neither the 3.7 or 4.7 have the ability to be carbed at all at all. and since it's the the 3.7 and 4.7 are the same engine family, he may get away with the same transmission. im pretty sure its the 45rfe behind it, which is the same one behind the 4.7.

I know this, I meant that to be 2 seperate paragraphs. I was talking about the swap being easy. I said that the swap from computer to carbed, is harder.
