31's on stock suspension
Hey there everyone. Noob to Dodge's here. My wife's pregnant and wanted some more room so I picked up a 2004 Dakota Quadcab 4.7L 4x4 last Saturday. She wanted a car but I missed having a 4x4 around so the Dakota it is
Question I have is I want to put 31's on it but she doesn't want it too much higher (so she can get the baby seat in and out of the back) so I'm going to hold off on lifting it. I do want some bigger tires though. Can I put 31's on the stock suspension or will they rub when I turn corners?

First off Welcome, I see its your first post and they'll fit perfect in fact they look pretty dumb imo without at least 31's...32's fit but will rub a little in the front I plan on going 32x11.50 when I get new tires but a lot of the Dakota's came with 31x10.50's even though the door jam says 235's. Its not hard to get in or out of either so you'll be all good.
Thanks for the welcome Theeplaymaker. I agree with them looking dumb with the stock tires. I'm looking at 31x10.5's. Mine came with 245/70/16 stock which converts to only a 29.5.
Another question. Will 31's be okay to do some light wheelin with? Are they going to rub if I stuff them into the wheel wells while crawlin?

um they might touch a little in the front under hard flexing but the rears will be fine. i dont offroad mine that much because i came from a cherokee that had two solid axles and the front in this truck just feels like it wants to fall apart compared to that and i can't afford fixing it right now if i'd break something but i'd say you'd be ok. you can crank your torsion bars in the front to get about 2 inches of lift out of it and level it. i plan on doing this once i get the chance to get it aligned right after. there are lots of threads on here about doing the torsion bars so do a search for it and you should understand what i'm gtalking about. with that you'd be good with almost no rubbing i'd say.
Don't know if this is your first child? But my personal opinion is spend the money on the new baby. Make it easy for the wife. You can always get tires later. Again just my two cents.

get step rails if your worried about your wife getting but the new rims not the ones I have the nice alloys, like TheePlayer has enough offset to not rub on turns also the width of the tires matters too im running 10.5 wide tires right now...
