this is how you grow hair on your *****. haha jk. dude id just slip a piece of cardboard under that thing, put the pan under the pumpkin, pop the cover. viola. cause you're gonna be there for awhile with a turkey baster and a hose pulling out 75-90 gear oil. that sh*t is like molasses. have some kitty litter on hand in case a mess begins, use the tailgate as a work bench. cmon now. ingenuity is key here.

no, that's how you grow a third arm. all that crap eventually makes it back into our bodies. now, i'm going to admit i have probably put worse things into my body than gear oil, but that's a story for another time boys and girls....

drain differential
If...you haven't sucked it out yet...you are missing the point.
If...you are going to replace the gear oil in the rear end, the point is to inspect the inside. Loosen all of the bolts and allow it to drain into whatever you have...it's only 2.5 quarts so you shouldn't make a mess.
Take the cover off and clean the inside as well as you can with clean rags and with a flat tip screwdriver lift the square or rectangular magnet out of it's position and clean it too. If you find metal nuggets on the bottom...you're in trouble...if not, you know everything is fine. Buy 3 quarts of 80-90 weight gear oil about $7 a pop and a paper gasket about $2 and put it all back together tightening the bolts snug and then back and forth up and down until tight. Squeeze 2.5 quarts of the gear oil back into the rear end hole...replace the rear end butt plug..and away you go knowing your differential is in good condition! P.S. Check the next day or the next couple of days for leaks.
