Default 3.9L reliability question

i've had my 2000 Dakota 3.9L for about 2 years now, havent had any major problems with it at all.... i've had it since it was 70k miles it's now 110k miles... and i continue to put money into it, but i'm beginning to question if its on its worth it??.... I take care of it, i dont race it, i keep RPMS below 3k for the most part... oil change, motor flush, seafoamed every 2500 -3k miles...

theres no real mods done to the motor, just a few small things, cold air, exhaust....

How long do these motors last??

any well maintained magnum motor can get you to 200K. with exceptions like water pump, fuel pump, things like that tend to go on any car. regular maintenance is the key. the dodge transmissions on the other hand............

they just downright suck. id personally would rebuild the transmission because of the engine is that reliable. and these engines can go over 200K miles.

my 1988 dakota has 249,xxx miles on it, havent had to replace anything in the 2 years ive had it other than a fuel filter. I havent even changed the oil in a year, I just make sure it has oil. My 01 3.9 only has about 60k on it and Ive never had to fix anything with the motor, but I make sure it gets fresh mobil 1 fully synthetic every 5k miles with a k&n oil filter. No internal mods on that motor but a few bolt ons, I also beat the crap out of that truck. It still has plenty of kick in it too.

wow just reading this post gives me more confidence in this engine. They really made this truck tough. I got mine from my grandpa and he took good care of it. Had 60,000 miles on it and i have now put 20,000 on it from me.
