Heater Core? I'm guessing so...
Hey everyone,
Haven't had any issues with my dodge in a while, so I haven't really had a reason to stop by and ask any questions.
Anyways... I've been having a nagging issue since I redid the intake manifold and plenum gasket last summer (07). The heat didn't work as good, the air conditioning wasn't as good, and occasionally there was a light smell of engine coolant.
It's gotten much worse now and so I'm finally convinced it's worth the headache of repairing. Currently even if the vents/heat are all the way turned off you can see steam come out of the vents (which smells like engine coolant, yummy!). I'm also getting what I presume to be coolant leaking into the passenger foot well.
So, that's probably a heater core issue, or something leading up to or past the heater core right? What's the process of dissasembling the dash to get in there and take a look at it all? I'll probably start first by taking a look at it to see if maybe a tube is loose or cracked, and from there go get a new heater core if need be.
Any advice or experience with the situation?
Thanks for your time,
Jesse

haha i hate the fog coming out of the vents my buddies buick did that and it scared the **** outta me the first time i saw it haha and now a few months later his heater core went out. i think you have to tear at the whole dash to get to it but i've never had to do it...my roommate frequents honda forums and some guy ripped his dash off to do a heater core change and found a black plastic bag with 2 grand in it maybe if you do do it this could happen?!? haha
j/k that is a pretty awesome find tho.. what would i do with $2k?... sorry back on topic
id buy a midget prostitute.
as for the heater core, yeah sounds like it needs to be replaced. enjoy taking apart the whole dash. dodge built these trucks around the heater core.
