Default I got a present with my new part!

Ok so I just bought a V8 TB off ebay for $27 shipped!! But more to the point is that it came with all 3 sensors! So If my idle issue isnt the TB or the throttle cable I have extra sensors to troubleshoot with.

Now I just need to clean it (its got some kinda disease to say the least). My question is what would you recommend to scrub it with? I used an old tooth brush and it worked well but it was a bit to big for the nooks and crannys.

And of course some pics

Mine was about that dirty when I got it.

I removed all the sensors and put mine in a plastic oil drain pan and hosed it down with half a can of carb/tb cleaner. Then held it up over the pan and sprayed carb cleaner and scrubbed with old tooth brushes and shop rags. For the corners and crannies I used Q-tips soaked in carb cleaner. I cleaned the little hole in the IAC orifice with a toothpick. Then I set it in the pan and hosed it down again and wiped and brushed it till it was spotless like a new part. Then just let it air dry and spray the linkage pivot points with spray silicone. Use a new gasket when you put it on your truck and transfer all the sensors off your V6 TB to the V8 TB because you know they work. I remove mine once a year and clean it.

Mmmm...solvents

Brings back memories of parts cleaning tables engine rebuilds in high school marine repair class. Is there anything more carcinogenic than cleaning a sludged-up engine part with mineral spirits and bare hands?

i have these little tooth brush contraptions...
you take a tooth brush with really long bristles... cut the handle off about an inch from the head part, then carefully heat the handle and bend it up and back over the head.. so you have a toothbrush head with a little finger handle on the back
