Default Motor Swap Question

I have a 97 dakota that has the 4 cylinder engine in it with a manual transmission. I have an 3.9 liter engine out of an 00 dakota with an automatic transmission. Will this 3.9 liter engine bolt up to the transmission that the 4 cylinder engine was on or do i need to get another tranny to? thanks in advance for your help.

it doesn't say anything about dakota's so they may have a different trans but i think it has an ax-5 which wouldn't work because they are prone to failure even behind the 4 bangers http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ax5.htm

i know your the 2.5 master but you sure they used a nv2500 behind them? 4 post down on this page says they used the ax-15 behind the 2.5L http://forums.jpmagazine.com/70/7112...ing/index.html

god called down from the heavens and said
"you freaking moron you're looking in the wrong place"...

lol no, found it in spec sheets from allpar

its the only other tranny they put in the daks, and the only other ones were the nv3500 and the 42 and 44RE
i know the 3500 were in the v6s and the RE went into the v8s

yeah i thought i saw it on allpar... only thing is that i didn't see that information really confirmed nor denied on any other sites, therefore when we were talking about the V6's 5 speed i was quite confused...
