09's have good mechanicals but are ugly as sin IMO...

have you put weight in the back? basically if your 4wd isn't working, put some weight back there and it will usually help you out until you can get it working again

Not to jack a thread here but I had a question. I noticed on the dial theres a spot that says "N" im assuming for nuetral. Is the dial supposed to be able to turn to the N mine doesn't. Whats that for then? I looks like a light could aluminate there but I can't turn to that setting. Is it suppose to ?

if you read the owners manual, you'd know what it's for .. it's to put the t-case in neutral, and you push it with a paper clip or ball point pen. the dial can't rotate that far, you could try it though but then gotta go to the dealership for a new switch (don't force the dial to neutral).

Oh, ok. I looked at the paper that had all the 4x4 info and thought it might be in there. Well that solves that problem, apparently where I thought there was a light was a hole for a paper clip lol

The Neutral is basically for recreational towing of your truck, like behind a motor home.
CAUTION !!! Make sure your E-brake is on if you try it out. your truck will roll away even if the transmission is in Park with the tranfer-case in neutral. The manual will say that as well

yeah with the transfer case in neutral you don't have to worry about miles (as they don't accumulate)... thats why its good for motorhomes

Finally got around to dropping it off at the dealership this AM for Diagnosis and also the latest recall notice. @ $90 an hr. for diagnostics, I hope they find the problem in an hour.

Exclamation Update:

Truck is still at the dealership. The first diagnosis was the CTM (central timing module).
A new one was tried and the 4X4 was still FAIL.
Now, we're replacing the TCCM (transfer-case control module) . I'm hoping that will be the root-cause and we'll be all done with this issue. I'm thankful that I'm not being charged for parts that don't fix it, but it's still going to run about ~$700.
I went there yesterday and tried the TCCM reset procedure (neg batt term removed and hold brake pedal for ~2 min. "Key was switched off") with approval from the sevice manager of course. That was also FAIL. Soo, we'll try the $400 module and hope it's "ABN"

I test drove an 08 SLT quad cab 4X4 V8 and felt that the truck I have save for the rusty bumpers and a few rattles was more powerful, quieter, comfortable, and more content too. The bed of the test truck was full of snow so I didn't feel the improved power of the upgraded 4.7 motor. Maybe I need to try a SLT Lariat on. I like the new Deep water blue color almost as much as Pariot-blue pearl coat though.
