You order a "matched" pcm through these guys, they program in your vin and milage, for $199 shipped. The address is www.solopcms.com

I had a friend use them and it was great. His '99 Dak pcm was $199 anyway

i think i just found another place as well, they are off of ebay.... $199.99 shipped

they have computers and match them and send you one programmed with your vin and mileage, lifetime warranty when you send your old computer back to them

may not need to buy a new one!!!!!

i met master tech, and he reprogrammed the computer using the drb3 scanner.

the CEL went off of wednesday and hasn't been back since. [prior, i could disconnect the battery and it would go away for the first start, but promptly come back on by the second start]

My FIL was able to take the truck to get its smog check, and the CEL stayed off, SO HE PASSED!!!

and was then able to take the printout to DMV and get his registration sticker & renewal on the spot!!!!

Default I've got one

I've got a PCM from my 2002 Dak 4.7

Let me know if that'll work. It's a rebuild from www.allcomputerresources.com, I bought one, the plastic clips got broken during shipping so i ordered another. Ended up leaving first one in and have second one in my garage.

revisting this thread, the p0601 has come back......

i think my father in law is getting taken for a ride by the dealership, as they are saying it is $1000 to fix it....... sounds liek a huge crock to me.....

what are some numbers i can give him? i figured reflashing it at the dealership with the drb3 wouldn't cost more than $100..... but also, it might, or might not actually fix the vehicle too.....

we really just need this code to go away, for good..... the truck runs fine..... but this p0601 keeps coming back..... all the time.......

is this most likely a computer issue, or is it an issue of something else wrong? we want to get this fixed once and for all.... but my in laws are retired, and on a fixed retirement income..... also, i am currently deployed, so all i can help with is arming him with information

P0601= PCM Internal Ctrller Failure I would say that means something inside the PCM has gone bad, that is the dealers price that is what it cost me.I know you can find them cheaper but I dont know of them

By the way the web http://www.solopcms.com/ is working for me today

ok, i remember it being an internal checksum error, not a controller failure..... so will replacing the ecu solve it, or is it possible there is anotehr reason for the reoccuring code?

If the code you posted is correct that code says the PCM has an internal problem, could something other than the PCM be causing this that I could not say but that’s what your code states. Send an inquiry to that web site see what they say that is what they specialize in

Hello,

The code P0601 is for Internal Memory Failure on the PCM, it cannot be cleared. That short is caused by a low voltage draw in the vehicle. Replacing the PCM is the only way to get rid of that code from that PCM. But you need to make sure the battery is fully charged, connectors cleaned and all voltage is correct before putting in a new PCM because it will short the next PCM the same way.

so it seems pretty positive that a new PCM is the way to fix this, does it sound liek there is a possibility that it could be another issue? I don't want to have my in-laws toss money at it, if I don't know for sure that it will solve their issue....
