Default how strong is my rear end?

well i picked up some slicks this last weekend. they are M/T's only got 5 passes on them. i got them from my cousin for $40 and a half pack of cigarettes (he said they were mine for whatever was in my pocket lol). my question is how strong is my stock rear end? i am kinda worried about launching her at the track this spring and blowing up a rear end or u joint or something (the trans is under warranty so that's not my problem). also, what RPM you think i should launch at? thanks guys! woot.gif

i think the 9 1/4 will hold up for the time being. remember, if you break it, you did it right. what stall is your torque converter rated at? thats what youre gonna launch at. i think ideally with these engines its like 3000 rpms, but you need a 3000 stall converter if im not mistaken.

**** 2400 is high. anyone one want to send me a low stall? lol. 9 1/4 end is stronger than a d44 according to some people. as long the damn clip don't break.

2400 is gonna put you in a nice torque range though. should be fine for daily driving too

It should hold up. I would say at least change the fluid before you do any hard launching just for good measure.

Slicks are meant to have some give in them and while they do make you take off hard, a lot of the intial force is absorbed in the tire, its what they are meant to do. I think you will be okay. I know people have a much tougher time using DR's instead because they don't absorb the force like slicks do.

agreed. Granted i'm a one legger, i've done a 50 foot burnout on bald streets.

Along with some launches..on streets.

It'll hold till you start getting over zealous.

I think?

hehe a one legger....

well I had a friend who had a 5.9 5spd and he could get the front end off the ground. So I know allll about this clip. He had to get the front bouncing then gun it to get it up tho so I think you will be ok.

Needless to say last I spoke to him he was on his 2nd rear axle and on his 3rd or 4th front suspesion.
