Default Superchips problem

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know. Be careful about Superchips controllers. I bought a 3715 to put in my 03 Dakota. It says needs updating. Have to send in for $80 or $30 with receipt. Even though clearly says for 98-03 4.7L. Quite a scam.

I did buy it used. I'm sending it in for $80 to be reprogrammed. I'm just saying it is poor that they sell it as working for vehicles that it won't work for. I asked the rep on the phone what if I had bought it new and had the receipt. She said it would still cost $30. Then I would have really been upset.

if you had gotten the 3815 you can plug it into your computer and do the updating that way...

It needs to be updated. I talked to the rep at Superchips thats how I know the money part. I asked her if it was VIN locked. She said no, if it was made before '03 it wouldn't have the program for the '03 truck in it. So even if I had bought it Brand New in '01, and had the receipt, I still would have had to send it in with $30.

well after 11 weeks of fighting with sc with a new 3815 programmer they finally sent me a new one. kept saying needs updates, when i did the required updates, tuner came back no calibration at this time. had to send tuner back to sc, so they could load the tunes. once i got it back, went and uploaded tunes. tuner than came back and said, truck returned to stock (WYF), truck than would not even crank, had to send tuner and pcm, back to sc to figure out went wrong. could not fix pcm, dodge had to do it. total cost was over 700.00 but sc paid for it all, even a rental for a week while my truck was down

Wow, no fun, at least they paid for it. I'm sending mine in, I hope it works. I only paid$120 plus $80 for program so still a good deal. It's just the fact that the unit says for my year and model and does not work. Even if I had bought it brand new, I still would have to pay for update.

if you wouldve bought it brand new in 01 you wouldnt have an 03 truck would you? This is what happens when you buy used stuff... it cant be programmed right out of the box for a vehicle that doesnt even exist yet. its not their fault.
