Default dakota issue

ok so i just got the motor back together from replacing the vc and intake mani gaskets. had the injectors cleaned, cleaned the gunk out of the top yada yada yada.

so it started right up and idles good and probably smoother than before.

but in park and neutral even the slightest tap on the gas pedal the rpms go up to 3k and hold for a few secs and then slowly come down. in drive or rev it runs fine.

after 3 starts the 'check gauges' light came on, no CEL.

it shows oil pressure, but i think i may have broke the coolant sensor that is to the left of the thermostat. weird thing is it shows coolant temp.

any ideas??

Brian

edit: it's the 3.9l v6 and it's a '98

Does it have and IAC Valve(Idle Air Control Valve)?? If so you might want to try replacing it or the Throttle Position Sensor.

pull a vacuum line off and tell me it stalls. It raises your rpms to about 3k.

that why i also asked about that? vac leaks on my car(mazda 4cyl) the rpms drop and just about stalls.....

the rpms only go up with a slightest touch to the throtle and then comes down and holds steady

That's what i thought! cuz vacuum leak = unregulated airflow into the motor = lean condition = computer adjusts = more fuel = rev spike?
