fiberglass = king

IF we dont sell our dually, i was thinking of learning FG and yanking the benches, putting in a FG center console that runs from the dash to the back wall (full size crew cab), with a pair of 12's in it, and replace the complex dash with a FG unit as well, such that it looks like one massive unit, but is actually 2 that bolt together once installed.

well the dually runs like a champ (+- the pinhole in the radiator) for having 300,000+ miles but looks like a POS on the inside and out. The cab just needs alot of work overall. My dad wants way too much for it, and there isn't much of a market for trucks with a 10,000 pound GVWR that look like crap, get 7-10 MPG, and don't look greatly reliable. Doesn't have properly working heat or AC either...

Where do you get the resin, fiberglass, gelcoat, and all that good stuff? You just have to find a shop that does it and buy stock off them??

I figure I could easily take the buckets out, get the front seats out of a pair of camaros or dakotas or similar (that are half-buckets), do new carpet, cut out and weld a new driver's footwell in, and do a fiberglass console that goes from dash to back edge of the front seats, then another smaller console for the back seats to the back wall. Then weld in new cab-corners and the driver's front rocker panel, get a new driver's door off a junkyard, put a new 4 core in, and paint it. For less than $2,000 we'd have a decent looking classic truck that could still haul a crapton of load, run great, can't really do much for the fuel mileage. MAYBE put a fiberglass unidash in and eliminate the glove box in favor of the console, but that would require ALOT of electrical and hand/woodwork. So might leave that origional and just keep the dashpad and replace the fake wood grain.
