Newbe and her truck
My 1998 5.2L get surprisingly real good gas milage i get 16-17 in town and 19 on the high way. My old 2002 4.7 dak that i totaled got way worse gas milage than my 5.2 because it didnt have the tork that the 5.2's have and it allways shifted when going up a hill. Unlike my 5.2 that will lug and stay in OD.
z250rider i see your from maine i am to. And u should be getting better has milage then that.

maine is awesome, i am in ct, right by the mass state line. i love going up north, better group of people up there, as for the truck, nice. those 5.2 you cant kill, my fullsize had 165000 on it when i traded it in. only thing i had to replace was, shocks and a water pump, tires, truck was mostly a pavement pounder,

i noticed that too...refuring to the newer dakota as the older one....hehe
amateurs.... i get 9-10 MPG and 1-2 worse than that in the winter with all the sandbags. but i spend like 3 hours each day in gridlock. so, yeah. but i still wouldn't trade my R/T or living in Chicago for anything.
Also, when it comes to mileage, it is always worse in the winter. they gas companies use different additives in the winter and it burns faster for one thing, also, when an engine is cold the PCM dumps more fuel into the mixture to get it up to operating temp. In my experiences, it's actually better for mileage to let the truck warm up for 5-10 minutes before you actually start driving it in the winter time. It wastes less fuel idleing that it would driving and the PCM dumping a **** load of fuel into the chambers.
