3.92 or 4.10
yes I would do it, but with 4x4 it's going to be a bitch to do unless you drop it out the front diff which isn't that bad, but that stuff is weak anyways LOL, but 3.92 or 4.10 will help you in the bottom end. I put 5.38 gears which equals me to about 3.92 or 4.10 ratio depending on the stock size.
gearing can make a huge difference. I wish I had 3:92's. The stock 3:55 is way too long in 5th gear for driving up hills. Perfect if you live in Kansas but not if you live in the mountains she has a hard time chugging up the hills at 1800-2000 rpms. Im assuming 3:92s would bring that rpm up to around 22-2400. So for me I rather have a 3:92 for driving on a highway that has 10% grades.
It can also help if you're looking acceleration the 3:92 will make it pull better.

i just wish that i had a little more oomph around town... but on the highway when i get to a hill, i just love dropping it down to 4th and hearing the engine scream

hey varsis, how hard was ur 5.9 swap?big difference from the 5.2? fuel mileage? 2 months ago almost bought a 2000 rt, blue, 5.9 w\ 3.92 all stock for $4000.00, truck ran awesome! waited too long and it sold to some-one else (still kicking my self) i guess i'm trying to get my truck to run at least as good as that stock rt, my truck is quick for what it is but i want more, found a complete 5.9 locally for $450.00

i also have the 3.55's which i don't mind too bad just because i am able to get good mileage on the highway (where i drive most) but lose performance in the city areas...

make sure the flex plate has the weights on it!
If that motor for 450 is not the same year just get a harness that is the same year. also Make sure the motor is from a dakota, a ram oil pan may not fit atleast thats what I heard but I just used a dakota motor.
I wonder how hard a cummins swap is???
If I dont drive like an *** I can get my mpg to 18-19. its going up more because Im doing a TON more highyway driving. Plus I did plugs, wires, cap and rotor a few weeks ago. Oh I have 3.92's by the way lol
