lowering?!?!
so some of you might know i plan on doing 2-3 DROP
but most likely not gonna do the work myself becaus the lack of a place to work and not having a lift
anyways...about mid to late summer(if the my front end last that long) i plan on sending my truck into a trusted mechanic and having him install the following
2 upper ball joints
2 lower ball joints
bost side tie rods
both side bearings
neopreen bushings everywhere
2" lowering springs
3" blocks in the rear with new u-bolts
and most likely front and rear shocks too!
oh and a transmission flush
....and if im lucky to find a cheapo....a limited slip or posi rear diff
so what im asking you fellow dodge forumians is!!!!
what kind of ball joints do i get?
im sure tie rod ends are all the same? just make sure that their greasable
bearings?(i have no idea)
how much are neopreen bushings?
i found some springs for 150, but idk if their the right kind?!?!
3" blocks for 75 bucks!
what kind of shocks should i look for??
i know that a trans flush if pretty regular...so i have no worrys with that
anyone got a CHEAP rear end??!!??!!??!!

I don't know how the 2nd gen dakotas are set up as far as the shackle hangers go, but before you get too set on blocks you should think about flipping the shackles with a set of 4x4 hangers (assuming the 2nd gens are like the 1st gens it should give you 2 to 3 inches of drop). I don't like blocks cause they lengthen the moment arm between the center line of the axles and the housing mounts (which increases the chance of axle wrap). Read this post to find out more...

if you go with blocks, make sure they are NOT aluminum. i ran 3in aluminum blox in the rear of my truck and it rocked my axle back and forth... no fun at all... the steel ones i later put in wrked like a charm.
they're out now, i put on the djm shackle and hanger kit... really its only a hanger kit.. the shackle that blots to the leaf and rear hanger isn't made for dakotas to go lower.... thats what i keep hearing and seeing anyway. but once i get my notches, the blox will go back in
but for the front, to save some green you could cut the front spring, thats what i'm runnin right now anyway... but gettin a 2in drop spring wouldn't be a bad ideam only problem with the cut springs are the boune that you get with them. but personally the bounce that it causes isn't that bad.
