Default Engine oil?

What type does everyone run, and how often do you change it? I'll have my truck tomorrow and will need to change the oil but I'm not too sure. I have heard nothing but praise and glory for Royal Purple, but alot of people say that it's not any better than something like Gastrol GTX. Your thoughts?

i used to run 3 quarts castrol gtx and 1 quart lucas oil stabilizer.. cant complain, but i switched over to amsoil 10w 30, full synthetic.. much better. engine is quieter and runs smoother. every little bit helps squeeze some more power out of the engine.

I use Valvoline high milage synthetic blend. Royal Purple is a really good oil but you don't need to be running that in your daily driver.

Right now I have Mobil1 10W30 in it. Next change I will go to Amsoil 10W30. Since I don't put too many km's on the truck, once running Amsoil I'll change it once a year...

I'd have to check the sticker, but pretty sure it's 40. We run straight 40 and 10-50 in our dually with a 454 BBC, alternating every other change.
