Default 4.10 gears

hey everyone. i have a 02 dakota 3.9 2wd CC and im looking to do a set of 4.10 gears, my question is what size rearend do dakotas have?? I found a set on ebay that says they fit chrysler 8.25 10 bolts and dakotas are listed as having this, i just want to make sure before i buy it.

if its a 3.9 then 8.25 sounds right. wait for one of the other vhee6 guys to chime in tho. btw....... -----> 4.56 F.T.M.F.W.

lol, if you check the glovebox, there will be a piece of paper in there with that kind of information... but i would assume that the V6 came with the 8.25, hell many V8's came with the 8.25 unless it had the towing package (which was a 9.25) or the R/T

or just look under the truck and see if it has 10 or 12 bolts on the cover, if it's 12 it is the 9.25 and 8.25 if it has 10 bolts. but i think most v6's came with the 8.25 rear.

you more than likely have the 8.25 like I do. A thing to remember when buying gears is that you need gears that fit the 8.25 29 spline axle. chrysler switched from 27 to 29 sometime in the 90's. Also, if you have to ask questions like this, you're probably better off just ordering the gears and having a rear end specialist install them for you, otherwise you'll never get it right. I would never attempt a gear swap, and i sort of moderately know what im doing.

very agreed. Even if I DID know how to do everything..i'd still have somebody else do it. Wayyyy too much crap that can go wrong.

i didnt think that requirement was true, i think my dads v6 QC came w/ the 9.25 and no tow package, hmmmmmmmmmm im confused

yeah i guess i was wrong, as i just went out and looked at my truck and realized i have the 9.25 but it didn't come with a tow package...

for some stupid reason i figured i had the 8.25... hmm... o well lol
