Wrong. The 318 and 360 are EXTERNALLY identical blocks. Meaning all bolt patters for the heads, transmission, mounts, accessories are all the same. The internals are very much different. The 318 is made up of a 3.91" bore and a 3.31" stroke. The 360 is made up of a 4" bore and 3.58" stroke. The two engines use different mains and the 318 is internally balanced whereas the 360 is externally balanced.... the crankshafts are not swappable between the two. Due to water passages for cooling, you can only bore an engine out up to maybe .060 or .070 on average, but due to manufacturing inconsistencies, that will vary block to block. I've seen as high as .090 overbore, but thats not something to count on being able to do. So, assuming you get a 318 block that has been sonic tested and you know it can handle a .070 overbore, the highest you can get with any combination I've ever seen is a 398, cause nobody makes a crank bigger than 4" that I've ever come across with 318 mains. The highest you can go with the 360 block again assuming you get one in good enough shape for a .070 overbore is a 416 with a 4" crank or a 435 with a 4.18" crank. The 390 stroker from a 318 and 408 stroker from a 360 are the most popular builds though, because the .030 overbore that is involved with both of those is a safe and reliable amount to bore any block.

id get a set of heavy duty bumpers instead...like a set of ranch hands!!!

as for the rims...those are so played out...id get the same size of rims "15x8" you got now(a different design of course) and keep the tires you have now...no point in wasteing those good tires that you have now

the headlights are cool and all...but there not my cup of tea after what hell i went though with mine...with those the main buld is located in the middle and thus the rear housing will be moved down an inch or two and will hit the fender(ive ran into that same problem)

i like the idea your goin for...but id look into saving money in some places adn spending it elsewere

those rims are not the best looking on the 2nd gens IMO

the green is nice and all...but i have a feelign that with the additions and all..the truck wouldnt look as good(no offence zane)...it would look a hell of a lot better if you went with a meaner looking color like flat black, atlantic blue........or a bright *** yellow

id really sit down and think of a good way to spend the 2k and plan your budget...ciz it would really suck to have half your mods on and run out of funds

end lecture

You want a 425 instead. Guy on delphi forums is building this beast...

Thanks!

No way, all Mopar baby! R3 block, W5 heads. 4.060 bore x 4.10 stroke. Should have shelled out the extra cash for a 4.25 crank, would have had a 440

o and by the way... my headers are the Mopar PPHs, they do not make them anymore, but the spintech ones are simular, but they use port plates.

but you can find a set of pphs they pop up for sale somtimes, and they still do group buys on them but they are like 700-800$ new with the ypipe, i picked mine up used and paid 150$ to get them ceramic coated.. all in all i paid 400$ for them after i spent the money getting them coated.

Got some updates I been super busy the last month and just had trouble finding time for the ol Dakota. Here is what I got so far.

New flowmaster super44 Cat-back dual exhaust

I also decided to go against painting my whole truck. If someone could photoshop the first pic of my truck i posted awhile ago and make it black from the top pinstripe up. Including the hood, roof, and the 3-4 inches or whatever on the bed, on up.

Here is what I did so far with paint. Black Grille, and Red on the under suspension support.

This is a little off topic but this is what has been taking most of my time up lol. I got a new toy.

You could paint it yourself and save a lot of $$$ like I did there is a how to that I wrote up on painting a car a flat color I would check that out. I love the way my dakota looks and so do all of my friends but some people think it looks out of place. I say do what you want after all it is your truck.
