Hey All,
I value all your opinions but my situation was that I needed a second vehicle due to my '97 Jeep GCL doing the "random stalling for no apparent reason" routine. I've been very apprehensive about driving it because I know it's not "if" it stalls, but "when." I needed something I could pay cash for and I couldn't find a V8 that fit the bill, so I bought the V6 that I was looking at. I see what you mean about the power, it's about the same as my Jeep 4.slow, but it's not like I'm gonna be hauling anything much in it. I'm sure I'll be hearing "Dad, can I borrow your truck to pick up a (insert furniture item, lawn mower, whatever here)," but what the hell, that's what Dads are for.

I'm not much good with a camera, but I'll have my son take some pics.

How can I find which transmission and transfer case I have. Google was no help at all and the Dodge site where you're supposed to be able to get the build sheet for your vehicle says that function isn't supported for my truck.

Thanks, big.bryant. I'm pretty sure there were only 2 transfer cases used in '98. I know I don't have a 242, so it must be a 231.
