Ultimate: the 44

Practicality: supercharged 408

Hopeful Reality: straight up 390

Most Likely Reality (for time being): rebuilt 5.2 lols.(but I am def gonna try for the 390)

WRONG!

they only made Demons in 71 and 72. And props to your buddy for swapping in a 440 since they biggest they got was a 340.

As for the question, once my motor dies im swapping in a 383 SBC and 700R4. Once i blow up the rear end with that combo, i'll throw a 9" back there.

Ive always had a soft spot for 5.0 cobra engines... not the power (or lack of)... but the sound....woooo

with a cobra intake and some trick flow heads..... the right exhaust makes these little cars sound.... wow

I work on Wilshire blvd... just a few miles from Rodeo Dr Beverly hills... i see lambos, maseratis, ferraris and more high end cars every few blocks... and even when a $2 million dollar Bugatti drove past me in Malibu last week... i still think the old mustang beats them all it when my eyes are closed lol

Im the same way. When people ask if you could have any car in the world what would it be I hear lambo and ferraris and I say well I would take a 71 plymouth cuda. I would take any old muscle car(restored or not) over any new car.

Wow, it's like I'm back in the 80s. Though at least you're not saying TH350/TH400, but still, that stuff is crap today.

true, its outdated technology. I did say however, thats what i intend to do, not necessarily my dream. My dream would be to stay Mopar and get a old school Hemi, TF727 and a D60.

But alas that is expensive, so my intentions err on the side of logic(and being frugal!). The SBC is much less hassle to install compared to the big block. Stupid easy to work on and make good power.
5.9 with a 5-speed would be nice, but for me would be a great hassle swapping over to a manual. and for what, 250hp? Why not build a 400hp street motor for a bit over $2k that in my opinion is a better engine than those in our trucks, and be a relatively easy swap to boot.

Besides, its my opinion. We all have one!

But why a 700R? At least use a newer one, PLEASE?

And good luck finding somebody that will touch it without a leg up front and arm when finished.

have someone ELSE work on my truck?

thats just blasphemy!

yeah the 4l80-e would be great, but again, it'd be more $$ just for the trans, and needing the standalone control unit adds more $$. Upgraded 700r's are quite good IMO.

we had an 87 camaro with the 700.

The neutral safety switch went out, the cheapest shop wanted $300 to replace it, so we did it ourselves.

It started to slip, the cheapest shop wanted 200 to look at it and 500 to fix it. We sold the car for 2500 instead. It was also drinking oil like no other... (305 SBC)
