I have a 97 dakota 4x4 extended cab wih a 3.9 and 42re trans. i got a 318 and 44re trans from a 98 jeep cherokee to swap. igot my 3.9 and trans all out. i also got the computer and wiring harness from the jeep. my motor mounts are the same but one thing is the 44re has wiring with plugs coming off from it and my truc dont have one thing for them to plug into. also on the harness from the jeep about a foot from where it plugs into thecomputer there are to plugs that dont plug into anything in my engine bay. i was told that all i neded for the swap was the motor and trans and computer and wiring harness. this is my daily driver so i have no vehicle right now. i need to get this in asap. please help me. thanks guys

from what I was told you need the computer and harness from a same year Dakota with a V8 or use your harness and splice 2 more injectors into it and get a computer from a same year Dakota for a V8.

 

so what year dakota do i need the harness and computer from? my 97 dakota or the 98 jeep

 

Compare part numbers, but they might be the same (assuming, of course, that the engine is the same and the trans is automatic on both).

But if different, I would go with the Dakota ECU.

 

so what year and what vehicle wiring harness and computer should i get to make this whole problem solved? and what harness do i need? just the motor wiring harness or what. is the motor harness part of the trans wiring? i just am so lost
