5.2 to 5.9l swap help please witch harness and computer to use
I have a 97 dakota with the 5.2 4x4 with a bad trans, well I found a 2000 durango 5.9l swap 4x4 also with complete motor trans and harness with computer, will the harnesss and computer work from the 00 durango in my 97 dakota?
Assuming that your Dakota does not have a sentry key (grey head key) and the Durango does not have a sentry key, it should be pretty much plug and play. You might have a problem if you didn't have the Durango computer, but since you do, I would say you are good to go.
Anybody chime in if I am mistaken...

If the Durango had a chipped key, the computer wont do you much good unless you can get the key, ignition switch, and sentry module from the Durango. The Durango computer will be looking for a key signal when you attempt to start it. I do think that the 5.2 and 5.9 engine programming are the same, so the 5.2 computer should work. I can't say for 100% tho.
Ok so ithey said trhey got the computer and its not a chipped key, all the clips will clip in it fine from 97 to 00?

You can probably even use the 5.2 computer. Also check it has the same style dash If I were U i would keep your 5.2 harness and computer and match it up to the 5.9 The only difference will be a different air to fuel mixture as long as your computer can do that your set.
Will all the sensor chips be the same from both motors?
