Default will this tranny work?

I have a 97 dakota extended cab 4x4. it had a 3.9 in iit and i took it out as well as the transmission that was slipping. I tried to put a 318 from a 98 jeep cherokee in and it wasnt a magnum block so it wouldnt work. so i got a motor from a 97 dakota 318 and i was wondering if i could atleast use the transmission from the jeep? please help me and let me know if this will work

the 98 Grand Cherokee 5.2 is in fact the Magnum 5.2. however, the motor mounts are likely different. So swap the mounts and brackets from the V6.(i believe that will work)

i dont belive it is. the starter is on the passenger side of the jeep motor and its supposed to be on the drivers. im not worried about the motor. i just want to know if the 98 jeep trans will work with a 97 or 95 jeep motor. i know a 97 and 95 motor will work in my truck.
