Default engine chatter in the cold mornings

i got the 4.7 in my 2003 dakota.. and man she makes some noise in the cold mornings... from what i hear they all do that?? i know theres a suppliment you can put in there to stop that but i just dont feel comfertable putting stuff in my oil.. but does anyone elses chatter? i mean it goes away after a min or so. i was just wondering cuz my 3.9 never did it

give it an oil change maybe? could be low or something.

if it does it even with fresh oil and properly filled, its the hydraulic lifters. 4.7 lifters tend to "stick" a little bit until warm oil gets flowing through it. However, if you dont already, a nice fully synthetic oil might help it out a little, if it doesnt its no big deal. In other words, yes its normal. Now if it does it ALL the time, then you have a problem.
