If I were at home I would scan the receit and post it up. I'm 99% sure I still have it at home. I keep all my receits. I called around and most places were around 13 or 1400. New England Auto Trans did it for me for $1200. They took a rebuilt unit and swapped out my toasted one. Labor was low because its just a 2wd, easy swap. It was like 2 or 3 hours labor, the trans its self, $40 worth of shop supplies, and some ATF.

That might be the difference. The rebuilt unit probably was just a clutch rebuild, not hard parts (unless specifically claimed that hard parts were replaced). So you wouldn't have to pay for hard parts, which amounted to ~800 of mine (I would like to assume the convertor is always replaced?)

Plus you didn't have to pay extra labor to have your old trans gone through, since they didn't have to go through it. Just drop the old, put the new one in, put the old in the crate, and ship back to warehouse.

Yeah im not real sure on what exactly gets replaced when they rebuild it. I guess it all depends on how it failed the first time. Im sure every one has the same process on going through them and replacing certain pieces. But I don't know exactly what gets replaced.

my dad used to rebuild chevy transmissions. a standard rebuild is non-hard parts: IE clutches and bands only (high wear items "soft parts"). The torque convertor, front pump, and drum(s) usually don't go bad except under extreme abuse or malfunction. In my case, I wiped out all 3 and the input shaft.
