Default Lowering Kit?

What do you guys use? Are there any precautions I should take before lowering the truck?

theres many ways to lower these truck

me personnaly im doin 3inch custon machined drop blocks with titanium U bolt for strength from axle wrap from my rebuild v8, and 2 inch lowering spring and new shocks all around

theres airbags, aftermarket A-arms, drop shackles, etc...

and for a real cheap way to lower it, you could install a v6 suspension under a v8 truck(if you have one)

Axle wrap is actually misnamed. It isn't where the axle housing rotates in relation to the leaf springs, it is when the leaf spring itself twists into an "S" shape. When that happens, the spring points the pinion upward, and if it points it far enough, you can snap your u-joints and throw the driveshaft out. Anyway, my point is stronger u-bolts won't help against axle wrap, only some form of a traction bar will help, so if you're going with 3 inch blocks, you should also buy or fabricate traction bars.

my old blocks are aluminum and grade c U bolts so im upgradeing to billet steel blocks and titanum bolts

as for traction...my cousins zq8 sonoma had a third shock in top of the axle that ran parelle to the frame and kept the alxe from wrapping under hard starts...im gonna most likely buy one shock from NAPA and just make my own brackets

I hear that... it's always good to have stronger bolts, but they still won't stop axle wrap. Now that shock setup is an interesting idea! It works good on your friends truck? Let me know if it works out for you!

why not just build a couple ladder bars?
but then.. you dont have enough power to ground to cause an issue......
