Whats your vin, i would check to make sure it actually is a R/T, because they never came with the 5 speed option. Yes its possible to swap the 5 speed in, but anyone in there right mind would not waste the time or money on a nv4500 and just go straight to the t56. The nv4500 is a junk *** tranny along with the 46re (being stock that is)

R/T Rims come stock with 17x9in Rims and are normally about 100-150$ a pop if found used and the people know what they have. Sometimes they show up on Craigs for dirt cheap but sell instantly.

You might want to check to see if the gears where replaced the stock 3.92s shouldn't be as short as you claim it to be. Maybe 4.10s or 4.56s. You can turn the drive shaft and mark the tire once it did one full rotation count how many times you turned the drive shaft and it should tell you your gear ratio.

Other then that. What cam is it running? I mild cam would have some a distinct lopping sound, so if he put a cam like that in more then likely you have head work as well, and it would be pointless to not update the top end with a m-1, 52-55tb ect to work with the cam and heads. Take a photo of the engine bay. Although when i first got my truck i thought it had a small cam in it due to the PO using 1.7 rockers over the stock 1.6s. Which would give you a hint of having a cam but not really, you can remove the valve covers and check the stamps on the rockers to find out.

All good points.... thats the problem with getting a half done project.. ya never really know whats been done but what is told...
No idea what lift or duration.. but it isnt much at all..barely noticable actually....
The guy I traded.. traded also.. thats how he got the truck lol so its hard to say what I got.. looking under the hood... the intake and such looks stock.. but im not an expert.. really.. only thing I see oftermarket.. is the k&n cold air.. and the headers.. and maybe dressy valve covers.. that read Mopar magnum...
I'll run the vin like you suggest.. cause it is a 5 speed.. and if it was put in by someone.. then they did an outstanding job... looks like a factory job.
but sounding more and more like a clone now isnt it

Edit::: vin shows it is a sport.. NOT an R/T.... Looks like I am really going to have to get to know this truck in the spring..when I go to finish it up VIN does show the 5.9 as factory...so thats a plus

well the trucks are built to be either stick or auto, all you'd need is the right plastic trim pieces and it'll look factory

as long as its a 360 its a great start

The vin says its a 360, but a sport? They combo was never offered. The only 5.9's made went in the Quad Cab and R/t's. Never a regular cab sport. It probably has a 318 then. The motors are identical just looking under the hood.

None the less, the 318 is still an easy motor to work on. Esentially the same as the 360.

i know my old sunfire was a factory 2.4 4door, a combo only seen in 1% of all sunfires built

Don't know, definitly never seen it before but could be a first.

And I'm not a fan of the rims. R/t's almost always look best with the stockers on there. Kinda their trademark. I like them clean and a solid color. But thats just me, if you like them keep them, if not get something else.

lol I admit guys...only thing I know for sure.. is I got a project and come spring.. I'll start fixin it up.
I used the free service at http://www.decodethis.com/ to decode my vin.. below is a screenshot of the results... says its a factory 360.
according to that though.. someone has changed the seats.. it has buckets.. no room for 3 passengers....

already shoping for wheels.. pretty sure I'll go with 18s.. would like to lower it just a little.. not much.. maybe a 2 inch drop. the ones on it.. arnt in the best shape.. just cant see the scuffs in the pic.. not sure they are worth trading to be honest.. chrome is peeling on the back side of a couple of them.. missing a center on one also. might let my buddys kid have them if he wants..he has an older dakota.. and it may get me a small discount on the paint job lol

If the Vin has a Z in it its a R/T. Factory 5.9.

As for the cam, im going to bet you have 1.7 rockers in it not a cam. Pull those valve covers off and i bet anything thats what it is. Also those Valve covers probably look like these right? This is a pic of my engine bay as or right now.

Go 17s better choice for tires, and you wont have to put rubber bands around them with a 2in drop. 17s and grab some riken Raptors 255/50/17s cheap and probably one of the best street tires you can get right now and not pay 300+ Thats what i use. I got the price from onlinetires.com and then had summit price match them, had them at my door in 2 days. Dont order through onlinetires.com very shadyu site and lots of bad reviews.

Find a set of stock 17x9 rts or pick these up... http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/pts/1519939929.html those are some nice *** 17x8 and super light, and cheap, but shipping might kill you if he does ship.

or just trade rtdakota as he has offerd his rt rims to you.
