1997 dodge dakota HELP! WANNA GO 5.2 TO A 5.9 WILL IT WORK????

It is a worthwhile swap too if you are not overly concerned with the gas milage, which I am sure you know will drop. I would say that if you only lost your oil pressure and your main bearings went, replace those bearings and sell the old 5.2, you will probably offset a big portion of your swap costs.

This is correct. I have owned a 1999 5.9 Durango. I currently have a 1997 5.2 Extended cab 4X4 Dakota, and a 2001 5.9 four door 4X4 Dakota. They all have averaged about 15-16 MPG. Wife drives a 2005 Durango 5.7 Hemi it gets a little better, but not much. Hughes Engines is advertising their new intake will improve this to 25 MPG. If I had some practical use data, I would invest in one. They are about $500-600. Has anyone heard if this is true?
