Default dual exuast suggestions?

i have a 2002 dakota 4x4 3.9 regular cab and i am wanting to do a dual exuast. i had a FM40 single in/out on my old truck (chevy s10 4 cylinder) and it sounded pretty good for a 4 cylinder. i want it to be loud while not being an anooying loud and be able to hear it from inside the cab. i was considering the FM40 single in/dual out ruunning the pipes out the rear or just taking off the muffler and running a y-pipe from the cat (leaving the cat alone on both) and running the dual straights out the rear. any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

I agree with wewanaplay....

You know... alot of thought and engineering goes into how exhaust works. Splitting the exhaust or modifying anything changes the dynamics. You can't just split the exhaust and add a Y-pipe after the cat and not notice a drop in performance. If it were me, I would just stick with the stock setup, and replace the muffler....SI/SO. Anything else and you are gonna notice a big drop in low end. But...that's just my opinion.

The whole "Which is best?" thing has been out ther for a while and has been discussed a LOT. there is a lot of good threads on just this site by some pretty knowledgable people expressing the pro's and cons. I'm not too interested in getting into any of that now. that being said, Read about it do some research and ballance out your goals as to what you are trying to accomplish and then go for it.

I feel like I need to add a piece to my 1st statement by saying...
Single in single out, anything else is gonn kill the already weak v-6 unless you have done some other relatively extensive mods, (supercharger, Headwork, Cam, Etc...)

+1 to both of them. Do some research, we've had a lot of threads on here concerning this lately, and both of them speak the truth about a SI/SO setup.

Yup that's what mine sounded like. Cool for awhile and then I got tired of the constant droning in the cab and switched to a Magnaflow.

Magnaflow all the way. Everything else sounds like crap.
