cut exhaust with after market muffler
so, my exhaust tips are starting to look bad, so ive decided i want to cut them, just to give the truck a better look
im gonna cut them right after the axle, but should i cut it after it goes horizontal, or while its still on the slope from going over the axle?
i want it to sound just as good as it is now, maybe make it a little louder? Will cutting it make it louder? and should i put tips back on the pipe after i cut it just to make it sound the same?
i realize the pic attached isnt accurate, it was the best 5 min job i could, please see it for reference

I personally hate dumped exhaust, it sounds crappy and resonates, but I would cut it pointing down given the choices.
I will make it louder (inside the cab), you're letting the noise out under the truck instead of out the back.
i highly doubt it will make it louder. maybe if you cut it right up to the muffler but way back there, no.
