Default cut exhaust with after market muffler

so, my exhaust tips are starting to look bad, so ive decided i want to cut them, just to give the truck a better look

im gonna cut them right after the axle, but should i cut it after it goes horizontal, or while its still on the slope from going over the axle?

i want it to sound just as good as it is now, maybe make it a little louder? Will cutting it make it louder? and should i put tips back on the pipe after i cut it just to make it sound the same?

i realize the pic attached isnt accurate, it was the best 5 min job i could, please see it for reference

cutting it after the muffler wont change the sound. if your going to get the same tip just cut it closer to the tips. no reason to cut it by the axle.

yea, will pointing it at the ground echo somehow and make it louder though?

i want to hide the exhaust completely unless you look underneath the truck of course, just dont know if it would be better to put some kind of tip on there (sound-wise) or just leave it bare pipe

i highly doubt it will make it louder. maybe if you cut it right up to the muffler but way back there, no.

edit: if you want it louder get a new muffler

I personally hate dumped exhaust, it sounds crappy and resonates, but I would cut it pointing down given the choices.

I will make it louder (inside the cab), you're letting the noise out under the truck instead of out the back.

yea, i might try to bend the pipe a tiny bit, so it is kind of at an angle pointing down, and back, but still hidden

yea it will make it louder because it will be all under the bed of the truck like hans5.2 said. it wont really sound louder to passer bys but inside the cab it will.

if u want it louder in the cab do that.
if u wont it louder outside cut it all the way to the muffler and add a straight piece of pipe. cut it somewhere rear of the axle and it will still be hidden.
or cut the muffler off and really let it flow.

instead of running a new straight pipe from the muffler, cant i just cut it after the axle where/after it starts to level out? so it would be pointing back, and behind the axle, yet still hidden

u mean so it would bend over the axle and then straight back? or would it still be pointing down. u want to get the gas and noise out from under the truck if u want ppl to hear it.
