It won't sound like a V8, but it doesn't have to sound bad.

Id be worried bout the low end loss, the 3.9 NEEDS back pressure or it has no grunt at low end. I almost want my stock cat back lol. Ill just mod more and compensate that way

I've been thinking about removing my cat as well, but I've been concerned about posts that I've read about losing low end. If I replace with a straight pipe, would I indeed lose low end, or not with the 360?

Should be fine with the 5.9, its mainly the 3.9 that NEEDS the back pressure. Could be wrong tho, if you lose a lil low end it would probably be minimal.

oh no, this has been debated over and over and over and over and over. there have been several threads in here about exhaust. My advice is to search and read up on it and make your own decision.

you guys are failing to realize, all states have a law requiring catalytic converters, if the vehicle was originally equipped, They are required to pass most inspections. plus unless you rig it up right, you'll have a check engine light on. Not to mention it will indeed sound like a tug boat.

i don't think it will throw a code since there aren't any O2 sensors after the cat or on it their all before it if i remember reading right from past post as far as the code i know for sure theres no sensors after or on the cat

My truck has both the upstream, and downstream o2 sensors, but my plan was to use the nonfouler trick for the downstream sensor. There's no emissions testing in my area, so I'm not concerned about that. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do though. I've read that with certain mods, your low end is just fine. I need to do some more reading when I get the time.
