Default Engine Help V8 4.7L

Hey guys and gals. I am new to the board. I don't know why I haven't signed up before. I live in Detroit, and i am sure you can tell i just hate dodge. notice the sarcasm.

Getting to the Chase. My 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport V8 4.7L has died. The Truck pushing 250k milage the motor finally seized. Basically now i need to get moving on this truck. I am having a really hard time finding a decent priced 4.7L 16tooth motor for this truck. So here is acouple questions for all of you wizards.

1) any recommendations where i can get a Long block 4.7L motor $1000-$1500 ?

2) does the 5.9L V8 adapt into the Dakota?

3) At 250k should i look at fixing or putting in a rebuilt tranny, and rear end?

4) Any recommendations for the situation I am in ?

thank you for responding. I am i mistaken, i thought that the 16 tooth motor was only on the 2000 models? So a newer 4.7L longblock will work in this application?

Your tranny lasted 250k...WOW! I would at least check the fluids of both tranny and diff. You probably need to replace some Ujoints and suspension components.

Why not buy a new Dakota?

Of course when i go to put the new motor in i will change the fluids in both if not the units themselves. I looked into buying a newer dakota, problem is that the ones i have found in my area with the V8 4.7l are around $4000. Now if i put a reman longblock from ebay it will be $2600 . Now going that route then would be an appliable route. The body on the 00' is in good shape and i hate to ditch a perfectly good working shell. The other thing for the $4000 i will be buying a truck with around 130k on the motor and shell so i could be looking to be in the same position very quickly as well. then i will have two broken datoka's. I guess that is the reason why i am here because i am trying to explore every option.
