Default Rotors

So,
My rotors are warped, been recut once already. So the question is, do I replace them with a stock low priced version, knowing that they will warp by 12,000 miles usage?
or do I spend a little more, for a pair of cryo-frozen super
"supposed never warp rotors", hoping I get 24,000 miles usage?
Found a 6 lug set, but $130 a pop???

The truck has a front brake bias loading as it is, has anyone adjusted the rear brakes, to take on more of the load? It would be nice if the front was not doing all the work I think?

Any working knowledge appreciated.
TY

I put the mid-level ($50) rotors from Auto Zone on last fall at 42,000 miles, but haven't put enough miles on them to give any true feedback on how good or bad they are. The originals were severely delaminating on the inside. I did put the ceramic pads on it and they give a more firm pedal. Unless you install a proportioning valve in the brake system you are really stuck with what the factory gives you as far as brake bias. I've checked and adjusted the drums to have just a slight drag when turned by hand but that's about the only adjustment to be done since they self adjust any way when working properly.

just get some rotors that have lifetime warranty. Then, as long as you don't let your pads wear down to the point where they score the rotors, you will never have to pay for them again.

I am on like set three

look into EBC. Good stuff for not a whole lot of $$. Either way, get higher quality brake pads. (any ceramic really) Cheap metallic pads eat thru rotors quick.

Thumbs up

Your rotors are more susceptible to warping once they have been turned because there is less material and they become lighter. Im going through the same with my 01. Stay away from the cheapo Chinese made rotors they wont hold up long. I found some Brembo's for $51 a piece that I'm going to put on. Don't want to do the job twice! Hope this helps

Brembo, EBC, SSBC, Baer. any of those are good products and there are others as well that i probably forgot. You definately get what you pay for, BUT... Factory rotors are generaly thinner than any decent aftermarket set and generaly cant be turned. Some aftermarket sets can be turned up to 3 times before they are as thin as the stockers were from the factory.

I usually buy the ones from auto zone with a 2 year warranty. Then in about 23 months I just bring them back and exchange them no questions asked. It's easy enough to just pop em off very 2 years or so and swap them out.

drilled and slotted rotors will get rid of heat better, BUT they will eat through pads, ive put close to 30k on my rotors and pads and who knows how long they were on the truck before i bought it, how the heck are yours only last 12k?!?!?
