The muffler I'm looking at only costs $50- Dynomax part #17748. I'm thinking I will cut it off if I install the new muffler and I don't like the sound or it's not loud enough. Noise isn't the main goal....I want to free up a few hp's and add a little bit of sound without it sounding like a honda civic w/ straight pipes.

my friend has a super 40 on his ford ranger with the 3.0 v6 and that thing sounds like a beast. Sounds kinda like a boat engine just louder. Doesn't sound like a rice can at all!

Spencer- Boat engine sound is the LAST thing I want....I own a boat, and got a 4 stroke engine for that exact reason. There is nothing more annoying in the entire world than a 2 stroke boat motor.

And I'm glad you posted that vid....because that truck sounds like EXACTLY what I dont want. Sounds like the truck is farting and pooping at the same time.

Not my fav sound either, but you are not gonna get that meaty out of 6 anyway. I have a FM 50 on my 4.7, it is nice and deep. If you like the sound of your truck, that's all that counts, enjoy it man. Not trying to be forum police, but ^^ could have been a little nicer, especially since he was the OP and everybody is trying to help give him ideas.

if you would have actually paid attention, Mike was the OP, not spencer, mike was wanting the ideas. He said first thing he didnt want the raspy sound...the video was exactly what he said he DIDNT want... so before you feel you need to come down on some one...know whats going on first...

Not sure you read my post completely. I realize all that, still doesn't mean a person can't be more civil. Wasn't really coming down on anybody. Also not sure why you feel the need to take-up for him, but ok.

Well I put the muffler on yesterday, Dynomax Super Turbo # 17748. Sounds really good too, not too loud and doesn't have the tin-can sound that I was dreading so much. Doesn't sound like an 8 cylinder, but that's because it has only 6 cylinders. I can definately tell the difference when I'm passing someone on the interstate, and am already seeing improved mpg also. I have only used a half tank of gas so far, but typically I can get about 220 miles before the tank is half gone. So far I have gotten 240 miles out of the half tank. Obviously just looking at the needle isn't the most precise measurement, but I can tell that I have definately used less gas. Probably an extra 1 mpg or so, I am just hoping to hit the 20mpg mark. So far the best I have done w/ just a cold air intake was 19.2 mpg, so hopefully the muffler puts me over the 20 mark. I also changed the oil to full synthetic and put in some Autolite 3923 plugs....it idles smoother and feels a little more frisky.

I would like to try to post a link, but I dont know how. I dont have a video camera, jsut a regular digital camera that takes videos on a memory card. How do I upload it if I take a video?
