How much weight will it handle
I have a '98 dakota 4x4 with the 5.2 engine and auto. transmission. Noticed on a different thread that some of you guys at times load your truck down. If I'm right, they're rated as a half ton, but how much would it handle for a short haul.
Yes the old 1/2 ton 3/4 ton 1 ton doesn't apply anymore. I actually don't think it ever did. It was just a name.
Here is a good post. Look at the payload amounts. Notice ALL are way above 1/2 a ton. 1 ton = 2,000lbs. 1/2 a ton = 1,000lbs

So, am I correct in assuming that it is feasible to carry a ton load of wood pellets on my '98 reg. cab, 4x4, with a 5.2 engine , auto. trans. and 6.5' bed. I usually take my utility trailer and kinda split the load.
