Default Where to get rebuilt 42re?

Ive been searching all over for a rebuilt 42re. I can get it done locally for about 2,500. But I really want an upgraded transmission and TC to handle towing.

Anyone know a reputable shop In Central Florida or who sells over the internet?

My truck is a 2002 V6

I just spent $145 on a complete rebuild kit, $100 on a torque convertor, and another $40 on a new filter and fluid. If you can do the work yourself, you will be saving ALOT of money!! I was looking at $1400 for a shop to rebuild my tranny, and reinstall it, so I decided to just do the job myself and as of right now I only have $285 in it all.

Edit: I just look at the reciet and the trans it's self was $1050 plus fluid and labor, it ended up being $1507. So my prevous number was a little off.

Since money is tight right now I think im going to just get a low mileage junk yard tranny with a brand new TC from hughesperformance and see how it does. If it starts giving me trouble ill already have a core to rebuild or swap for a rebuilt one.

Hey Cowboy, how hard was it to rebuild? And was this your first rebuild?

South Florida isn't too bad of a drive from Central Florida. Call and talk to Steve. He's an amazing tech who knows Chrysler transmissions like the back of his hand. He built the 46RE in my dad's 98 1500 for $1500 including R&R, shift kit, new torque converter, aux. cooler, and other upgraded parts. He's put almost 75,000 on it and it still shifts nice and firm. Tell him you want to beef it up a little and he'll tell you everything he can throw into it.

He also built the 700R4 for my Camaro. $1200 bucks (took the trans to him) including a new 2300 stall converter and he guarantees it will hold 600hp. The way my car shifts I believe it too.
