Default couple questions

i just bought a 99 dakota sport ex cab 4x4 auto with the 5.2 in it about a month ago. everything seems to work great on it except the clutch on the ac wont engage, which i'll probably take it to a shop for, i changed the ac clutch relay and had no success, i do have power going to the clutch, and if i tap it while the engine is running and ac on i can get it to engage for about 10 sec.

i have a question because under the hood on the passenger side there is a factory looking sticker that says a dealership made these authorized modifications to the the vehicle, and then in pen is written pcm flash, does that mean the truck has the mopar performance pcm in it? i was thinking about putting a jet performance chip on, but if its already got one i dont have to worry about it.

thankyou for any info

jet chips are a waste, superchips tuners are much better

my buddy had the same prob with his 5.2 ram and his is a little wire connector on top of the engine on the driver's side between the intake manifold and the valve covers, its like its not all the way plugged in, so he just took a piece of wire and wound it around it to keep it engaged, hope this helps

If the a/c is not charged to the proper pressure it will also cause the compressor not to kick on, so check for that as well. Dont get a Jet chip, it does not really add any performance, it will however change the shift points, and change the air/fuel ratio enough to throw codes.

even if i can get the jet chip for 50 bucks?
i bought a self recharge kit at the auto store about a year ago for another vehicle, and i kept the gauge it came with. when i put it on my dakota it reads right in the middle of the green but doesnt actually give me a number. maybe i'll have a shop check it, they advertise free estimates. most stuff i can fix, change myself, but i've never really messed with AC so im kind of at a loss

Nope don't even waste ur money on it, just spend the extra money and get a superchips tuner u will be so happy u did. And another mod to not waste ur money on is a throttle body spacer they're basically paper weights on fuel injected vehicles

I've heard that jet chips work at first but after driving the computer relearns its old setting and your so called awesome jet chip isnt doing anything. Save your 50.00 and put it towards your superchips they 100% work and show a difference and can mess with shift points, raise rev limiter, erase speed limiter so they are 100000X better than a jet chip.

And even if you can get one cheap enough you can send it back to superchips and they will reprogram it for around 100.00 which saves you spending like 250 for a brand new one
