the easiest thing is to look under the hood. if your throttle body is facing up it's the 5.9l if it faces towards the grille it's the 4.7l
also in the vin # on the dash, if there is an N in the number it's the 4.7

I am not sure WHY I thought I had a 4.7 , probably because autozone only gives you a 4.7 liter option on there website for a 2000 dakota. I DO HAVE THE 5.9. Is there any pros or cons between the two?
Does one last longer than the other or something like that?

As for pros u will have a ton more aftermarket support for the 5.9 as well as more power but u will suffer on the gas mileage side of things

4.7 is more efficient and a better running engine. Basically the only pro to the 5.9 is the extra torque. The 4.7 will last longer, require less mantaince, and get better fuel economy.
You my kind sir have a rare, and awesome truck. Please take care of it, and if you ever decide to sell it please PM me i know 2 people wanting to buy a Quad Cab 5.9L Dakota, along with me. So 3 total.
Congrats on the find.
What color is it by the way, and it being a 2000 is even better it has all the support, good interior, and none 01 faults, they changed a lot of **** from the 2000 to 2001 styles. I know i went from a 2000 to a 2001 and i hated it (yeah its growing on me now, or im just getting use to it.. meh)

The truck is silver.
This is off wiki, I guess I was confused.
***Four-door "Quad-Cab" models were added for 2000 with a slightly shorter bed, 63.1 in (160.2 cm), but riding on the Club Cab's 130.9 in (332.5 cm) wheelbase. The aging 5.2 L Magnum V8 was replaced by a new high-tech 4.7 L SOHC PowerTech V8. The Quad-Cab featured a full-size flip up rear seat to provide room for 3 passengers in the back or lots of dry, interior room for cargo.
In spring 1998, a new limited edition R/T package was available as an option on the Dakota Sport model. This version is considered a true street/sport truck, only available in RWD. Factory modifications such as a 250 hp 360 cid/5.9 liter V8****
