Default What's this wire? (Also: Spark plug Q)

When i was pulling the first driver side plug, I noticed first that the evap hose was unhooked, and second, that this wore was just dangling there. I put the hose back, but have no earthly idea where the wire goes? Truck runs fine (other than down on power form the plugs & oversize tires i'm thinking). The plu's gap is .047, judging from the center, i guess I should replace them. I'm no spark plug magician, can somebody ballpark how long they've been in the truck?

That's the problem, i don't see any loose bolts, nor power sources, anywhere near where it would reach.

It goes into that loom, and from there I have no idea. I have the haynes and FSM, but no idea where to start

the loom doesn't go into any certain mechanical device or control module, it prolly goes right through the fire wall right lol

That was my guess, but I wasn't about to dare find out the hard way (blowing something up).

Can somebody please look and see if they have a similar wire?

The plugs looked like mine, and after contacting the previoys owner, the plugs had been in the truck since he bought it, which meant there were 80,000 miles on them. The correct gap for a plug for the 3.9 is .040. Also, the wire is infact a ground, and if I can remember to, I will get my camera out and take a picture of where mine is located.

so the plugs are at about 3/4 life, and probably were gapped short (I dont know how much metal is lost over the life of a plug)?

An image so I can see where it goes would be appreciated. Makes me wonder why it's loose.
