Want a Dakota Quad Cab
I am looking to trade my 2001 Ram 2500 w/ the 5.9 Cummins for a Dakota Quad Cab. Looking at anything priced near what I want to get out of my Ram [around $5500] I have found a few possibilities but I am not sure if I should get a V6 or the V8. I have heard people complain about the fuel milage in these trucks. We have had a 2003 and 2008 Ram with the 4.7 and get around 14 in city and 20 on the highway. Is the Dakota simular? And compared tot he 4.7 how does the 3.9 perform as far as milage goes? And I know I should look it up myself but what years did they swap from the 5.2 to the 4.7 and from the 3.9 to the 3.7?
Damn a cummins for a dakota wish I had a quad cab cause I would so trade!!! but dont do the v6 in a quad cab you will be disappointed with it. and really the v6's get around the same mpg as the v8s and they came out with 4.7s in 00 then they changed the 3.9's for the 3.7's in 04
My Ram does have 226K miles on it and quite a few cosmetic blemishes that I estimate would cost $500 to fix all of them. But it is pretty mechanically sound, runs and drives pretty good and doesn't look too bad. I get 16mpg city and over 22mpg hgwy. Everything works as it should except for the map lights so I think it is worth close to $4500 trade and $6000 private party value so I would like to find a Quad Cab of eaqul value. Most dealerships only want to give me $3500 whih is wy to low
Most dakotas come with 3.55 but others have the 3.92. I know what you mean about dealers low balling you on trade in. We had a 01 grand cherokee loaded had 130,000 miles got offered 2,500 sold it privately for 7,500. Try putting your truck on ebay diesels always go fast on there.
I am in Elizabeth City, NC which is in north east NC about 35 miles south of Chesepeake, VA
